We are seeking an exceptional and visionary Head of Secondary to join our esteemed IGCSE and IBDP school in August 2026. The successful candidate will lead a vibrant and diverse community of educators and students, ensuring the delivery of world-class education in alignment with our school’s values and global standards.

Responsibilities

As the Head of Secondary, you will:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Secondary School, setting and maintaining high academic and pastoral standards.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of the English National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB Diploma Programme.
  • Inspire, mentor, and support teaching staff to foster professional growth and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching quality and student progress, using data to drive decision-making and enhance outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team on whole-school initiatives, policies, and development strategies.
  • Ensure a robust pastoral care system that supports student wellbeing, discipline, and personal growth.
  • Promote a rich co-curricular programme and encourage student leadership opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, fostering trust, transparency, and active engagement in school life.
  • Act as a key ambassador for the Secondary School in student recruitment, admissions, and marketing efforts.
  • Manage budgets, staffing, and resources effectively within the Secondary section.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection across all aspects of school operations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Education or a related field, along with a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent).
  • Extensive leadership experience in a high-performing international or British curriculum school.
  • A deep understanding of the English National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB Diploma Programme.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, inspire excellence, and manage performance effectively.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build a positive and motivated school culture.
  • A commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion, and holistic development.
  • A forward-thinking approach and passion for innovation in education.
  • Fluency in English (Spanish is beneficial but not essential).

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the Secondary School team in delivering outstanding teaching and learning experiences.
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to ensure academic success.
  • Engage with parents and the wider school community to build strong relationships and foster collaboration.
  • Oversee the pastoral care system, ensuring students’ wellbeing and personal development are prioritised.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to align Secondary School goals with the overall vision of the school.
  • Manage resources, budgets, and staffing to ensure the efficient operation of the Secondary School.
  • Actively participate in school events, activities, and initiatives to promote a vibrant school culture.
